POP SUNDAY FUN AT ALBERT MILLIN
MBABANE - The first #PopSunday debuted on Sunday as families, friends and fashion addicts gathered at the Albert Millin lawns in their camp chairs and throws.
Pop Sunday, as the event is dubbed, is a curated experience for everyone, slated for every last Sunday afternoon of the month from 12pm to 10pm. The entertainment programme was well curated with a line-up that featured Eswatini’s cream of the crop DJs who included MTN SWAMA award nominee !Sooks, DJ Lu, Amarii, MKAY, and DJ Tap also known as Shaun De Souza. The show was graced by fun lovers and entertainers from within the Manzini- Mbabane corridor.
Considering that this was a first of its kind event, it was well attended with over 400 fun lovers including children crammed up at the Albert Millin. Also in attendance was Eswatini renowned chef, Leroy Healy, who came prepared to serve cuisines called Wrapters as well as well-loved street style fashion house PlaydOut. The Wrapsters by Chef Layno, as he is professionally known, were a hit amongst the fun lovers, as most of them would come for second helpings.
Made
They were made with either beef or chicken meat wrapped in flat bread wraps and julienne vegetables; they were sold at E30 per serving. Sporting activities such as a 5-aside diski challenge and a children’s play area with a jumping castle were also available further highlighting the fact that this was indeed a family friendly event. Speaking to the event organizer DJ MKAY, he said they thought of Sundays to be best spent with family & friends while bumping to some nice tunes in the beautiful summer afternoon. He also said that the aim was to do an event like this once every month.
The Albert Millin is known not to operate on Sundays, however, this past weekend proved to be a different tune altogether. The Albert Millin has a restaurant, bar, and ample space on lush green lawns which made it the impeccable venue for the Pop Sunday. One of the fun lovers, Ziphozakhe Dlamini, said that she loved going to the Albert Millin because of the pleasant food they served and being open on a Sunday was good for sundowning with friends over a slice of pizza and gin.
