LOCAL ARTISTS FOR ZIMBABWE
MBABANE - They are definitely Eswatini gospel music icons and Zimbabwe even knows that!
This speaks to Eswatini traditional gospel music group legends Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors and Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group who have been slotted in a line-up on a festival in Gwanda, Zimbabwe.
Dubbed ‘Gwanda International Gospel Music Festival’ and themed ‘God is speaking, are you listening?’, the massive festival is slated for October 4 until October 6.
Gwanda International Gospel Music Festival is an annual Zimbabwean two-day festival which sees the performance of internationally renowned gospel music artists. Big names like Dr Tumi and others have graced the show.
Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors and Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group will be performing alongside South African gospel music legend Sipho Makhabane, saxophonist Denzil Erasmus, Mkhululi Bhebhe and many other international celebrated gospel artists and crews.
Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors’ MP Timothy Myeni confirmed that him and the group were slated to perform at the stated show and they were booked to fly at O.R Tambo to Gwanda.
“We were connected by people who got us gigs in South Africa and other countries. We are honoured to be part of this festival, it will be our second time in Zimbabwe,” said Myeni.
He said they were popular in Gwanda, Bulawayo and Harare as those cities were filled with Ndebele speaking people which are Nguni speaking like emaSwati.
Promised
Myeni promised to place the country on the map and sing like they were headed to heaven.
Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors have been to Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Reverend Elias Shongwe, founder and vocal leader of Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group, also confirmed that were slated to perform in the same festival.
“We have a booking agency in Johannesburg, South Africa who always gets us shows and they did that with this show.
“We are pleased to have been recognised and we will deliver our best,” said Shongwe.
Shongwe also stated that they were going to fly to Zimbabwe.
