MBABANE - Silent moves and great awards! The above statement describes Eswatini renowned DJ and music producer !Sooks, who has been making moves and producing music which gained him large popularity and favour.

Just recently, the now award-winning DJ, real name Sukoluhle Dlamini, scooped two awards at the Dance Music Awards South Africa (DMASA) on Thursday night, at Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
!Sooks won under ‘Best Compilation‘ for HOUSE MUSIC AFRIKA Vol.9 where his album ‘Symmetry’ is featured and ‘Best Underground Record’ for his song Oasis which features Avi Subban.

All the nominations came from his album ‘Symmetry’, which was officially dropped about over four months ago.
!Sooks briefly confirmed his win with this publication, stating that he was humbled and motivated to do greater things.

In a previous interview with the Entertainment Desk, the decks king said everything started last year while he was nominated for his song ‘Miles Away’.
“I am super excited to have been nominated again, last year I got nominated for a song Pierre Johnson did with me titled ‘Miles Away’ and this year, it is my song and debut album. I have no words to describe the feeling. It’s really comforting to know that the music resonates with people that much. Especially also because I’m liSwati,” he said.

“Currently, I have a song with the lovely Velemseni dropping in a few months or so and a lot of other special collaborations in South Africa and overseas.”
Currently, the Eswatini renowned DJ and music producer has been nominated under four different categories in this year’s MTN SWAMA  Awards.
SWAMA is the acronym for Swaziland Arts and Music Association.

!Sooks was nominated under ‘Best DJ’, ‘Male Artist’, ‘Best House Artist’ and ‘Best Album’.
“I have been working hard for the past two years and I am glad it is paying off. I urge people and my fans to vote for me,” said !Sooks.

The Eswatini-born rising star won alongside Shimza, Atjazz, Black Coffee, Prince Kaybee and DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, who topped in the Album of the Year, Best House Record and Best Amapiano Record categories respectively.

!Sooks started breaking ground in the entertainment industry after dropping an album titled ‘Symmetry’, with South African house music entity known as Soul Candi about three months ago. His album is under HOUSE MUSIC AFRIKA Vol. 9. He has been touring South Africa because of the new album.

Win

!Sooks is not the first liSwati artist to win an award in South Africa. He followed in the foot-steps of gospel musicians Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group, Nduduzo Matse, kwaito star Mjay Jakalaz and many others.

DMASA is an online, public-voted award that acknowledges and honours the accomplishments and contributions of South Africa dance music artists and industry people who are pushing boundaries and driving South Africa’s thriving dance music scene forward.
The awards include 20 categories.
