SGITHA IS ‘COMMERCIAL COLLISION’ CHAMP!
MBABANE - Loud screams made upcoming Solani’s Shisanyama resident DJ Sgitha E1 000 richer!
This was at Solani’s Shisanyama at Msunduza in Mbabane where the DJ, real Thabiso Khumalo, was awarded E1 000 after he got the loudest cheers at a show dubbed ‘Commercial Collision’ last Friday night. The inugural event’s aim is to promote the spirit of knowledge in commercial house among DJs. Also, it is meant to improve the manner in which DJs entertain fun lovers. Sgitha, an upcoming DJ from Lobamba, won against renowned award-winning Dj Zulu D and Amapiano DJ Ayacity.
Zulu D is the current MTN SWAMA Awards ‘DJ of the Year’ and he has performed across southern Africa, including Tanzania, South Africa, Mozambique and other countries.
Ayacity, real name Ayanda Motsa, is a fast growing DJ who has performed at the first Festival Explosion. Sgitha won through rendering a vibrant 20-minute set that each of the three DJs was allocated with. He entered the arena with sparklers, grabbing the attention of fun lovers who packed the bar area of the venue. He dished out commercial house tracks which made the attendees dance lively. He added zest to his set by also dancing while holding out the sparklers. After his set, there were loud screams and cheers from the crowd.

Another DJ who earned loud cheers was Ayacity, who dished out trending Amapiano songs including ‘Labantwana Ama Uber’ by Semi Tee featuring Miano and Kammu Dee. Also, Zulu D was a marvel to watch as he performed alongside his drummer known as Sbura. During his set, he sang his popular line ‘Labo esihamba nabo, asijoli nabo’ meaning ‘we are not dating the people with are hanging out with’, which got everyone singing along. After their sets, the three DJs (Sgitha, Zulu D and Ayacity) were made to stand in front of the crowd and Sgitha was an obvious winner as he had louder screams than the two DJs. Sgitha was picked up in victory and given the E1 000 cash on the spot.
In an interview with this journalist, the champion said he was happy about the results. “I honour the fairness of the competition. Also, I appreciate the love fans and supporters forwarded to us. “For me, this battle was not about the money but it was for exposure so I can elevate my career behind the decks,” said Sgitha.
