TEMANYANDZA MAGONGO CROWNED CULTURAL QUEEN
MAGUGA – “Siyimbali, sichakazile futsi sitayincoba IAIDS”
Temanyandza Magongo was crowned as Miss Cultural Heritage 2019 on Friday, in a culturally infused ceremony held at the Maguga Cultural Village in the Hhohho Region of Eswatini.
She is a flower as translated by the Eswatini maidens’ slogan during the Umhlanga Ceremony, who was handpicked by the judges to represent the country’s cultural affairs in pageants.
She took over the crown from last year’s winner Nokulunga Dvuba.
Magongo beat 14 other dazzling young women from across the country to scoop the prestigious crown. She made it to the top two and beat out Ncobile Matse who came out as the first princess. The audience screamed their lungs out when Magongo made her contribution during the questions and answer sessions of the top five, when the judges asked her what she would change in the country.
She responded by saying that she would cut off the retirement age to 50 so that each and every youth in the country would get employment opportunities, much to the celebration of the crowd who deemed her response intelligent. Thembeka Ndlangamandla, fondly known as TBK in the social scene of Eswatini, hosted the pageant and captured the audiences with her majestic looks and on-point presenting skills. She was dressed by Velile Masinga in haute couture Swati lihiya inspired ensembles.

Both outfits as TBK revealed were made overnight and she also said she was pleased with the works of Dube’s hands for being able to get it right with her body measurements at last minute. The judging panel consisted of culture teacher from Vulamasango School, Mdabulo Mkhwanazi, Pageants Eswatini’s Doreen Mapasure, Sizakele Vilakati who is inspector of schools for the siSwati subject in the country, as well as renowned theatre practitioner, social worker and nominee for best actress under theatre in the 50/50 National Arts & Culture Awards Zodwa Treasure Gama.
