PIGGS PEAK – World-class!

This is the best way to describe the first Northern Jazz (NOJA) gathering  which was held at Pigg’s Peak Hotel and Casino on Saturday, where Eswatini golden boy Sandziso 'Sands' Matsebula and the Village Pope Tshepo Tshola were headliners. Starting off with world-class ambience, the inaugural event was embraced by over 1 000 jazz and fun lovers.
The people, from the very beginning of the even, were spoiled with quality jazz music.

Serving the jazz on a golden platter, Indibano Jazz Club DJs Sibongiseni Mamba, Noncedo Mamba, Mbusi Motsa and Khulile Kunene dished out Western and African jazz music. They played songs from legends, including that of Ray Phiri. Just after 6pm, Eswatini shining songbird Nomalungelo Dladla heated up the stage with her presence and strong fashion statement. She performed her classic 'Imiyalo', 'Mporoma' and others which people embraced.

Sands' one hour set, after Nomalungelo, was memorable. Being the man of the night, he performed accordingly while bonding with the crowd. He started off with 'Lapha Kami', which people sang along to. He then performed his classics and at the end of his set, he was joined by Tshepo Tshola where they sang 'Ngiyathandaza', their new track which evokes emotion.

Tshola then took over and performed his iconic tracks. Bholoja was the last live act, hence he conformed to the saying 'Save the best for last'. Because of his sterling set, the crowd begged for a repeat. Not only were the performances world-class but also the set-up and services were. Attendees were blessed with free crumbed and tasty chicken feet.
