MBABANE – The second Sunday Culinary experience was out of this world.   This food which was set to tickle our taste buds was one to remember at one of Eswatini’s hidden gems Macatini’s Guest House which is located at Dalriach in Mbabane.

Rednote Africa’s Chief Disruptor, Khetsiwe Dlamini could not hold back her excitement at the response which the public gave to the event.
South African renowned chef Kabelo Kalebe, who is the founder of Super Kabz and has travelled to over 69 countries came fully armed with tantalising dishes collected from his experiences all over the world.
He took us through the dishes he prepared which included food we eat on an everyday basis but with a twist.

 Roaming

First on the menu were roaming starters which he said were basically food available for those who came early to the event while we waited for the official starting time.

The starters consisted of cream cheese tartlets topped with smoked trout and vegan tartlets with sautéed wild mushrooms.
We were then treated to an appetite opener which was butternut cappuccino with pumpkin seeds, rocket and cream cheese and orange dressing as well as a beetroot taco with avocado salsa served with white wine.

The main course was a pan seared duck breast in red wine served with seasonal vegetables and roots puree.
The dishes were served in 30 minute intervals, so before the final course which was a deconstruct pavlova with edible flowers, trio jam and chocolate ice cream, we were served with a pallet cleanser which was a cold red pepper soup.

The chef, Kabelo said he was honoured to be hosted to cook for emaSwati as this was his first time being in the country. He also revealed that he would be making a return in January for a much relaxed and outdoor setting.  Thembeka Ndlangamandla said she loved the atmosphere that of the event as she was able to converse and catch up with old friends over food and drinks.

Noncedo Dlamini also shared her excitement saying that she would love to attend more events like this where she got to explore her taste buds.
The Sunday Culinary Experience series will soon reveal another chef and dates for 2020. Khetsiwe said those who would love to attend must look out on the Red Note Africa pages on Facebook for more information.
