MBABANE – Little kings own castles too.  The year 2020 comes with goals in double folds as for the first time the Little Miss Eswatini pageantry will host Little Mr. Eswatini.

The category which will be launched in April of this year will see males as young as toddlers participating in this empowering pageant.
The mandate of this pageant is to make the winner of the title a leader in helping to improve the livelihood and welfare of children in Eswatini.
The main focus of this pageant is mainly on individual children between 0 to 13 years and not the youth.

Speaking to the Pageant Director Nokuphila Masangane she said the crowned king was only expected to do charity work and volunteering during school holidays as she believed they needed to focus on their learning which was a foundation of the rest of their lives.
“Parents have invested heavily in education therefore the pageantry work does not need to hold them back from achieving their academic successes,” she said.

The spectacular crowning of the event will take place in August 2020 during the school holidays. “The pageant is not all about beauty, but we want to help children boost their confidence and involve them in serving the nation, hence we will be looking at the innocence of the child,” said Masangane.
Masangane also said her love for children has played a role in cultivating these pageants. She revealed that application forms for the competition would be made available immediately after the launch.

The Director of Pageants Eswatini Cathrien Poitgieter expressed her excitement about the new development because this was an indication of growth in the pageantry.

“We fully support this pageantry and we would like to encourage parents and guardians to jump at this opportunity as they did last year for the Little Miss Eswatini,” she said.

It is worth noting that the princes and princesses will get an opportunity to know more about social responsibility as it is one of the fundamental aspects in life. Prices will be revealed soon after the official launch that is expected to be in April of this year.

excitement

In an interview, Make Stephina Magagula said she saw the post on one of the social media platforms Facebook and showed it to her eight-year-old son who responded with excitement.

She said her son had always been interested in participating in such as he would often watch programmes like Mr. World pageants on television.

Bafana Zulu said he was excited at this opportunity which he saw on Facebook as well because he believed that as a young father his son would have other males to look up to and be groomed positively as the African adage goes ‘It takes a village to raise a child’.
