‘SNOWEE’ IN IRISH SERIES
MBABANE – Looks like it is ‘Twenty Plenty’ for ‘Snowee’. This time around, the Eswatini model-turned-actress Nolwazi ‘Snowee’ Simelane has conformed to the popular ‘Twenty Plenty’ theme by bagging a role in an Irish series titled ‘The Professionals’.
‘Twenty Plenty’ is a social media popular theme that means that this year, 2020, is a year of success and blessings. ‘The Professionals’ is a 10-part series which where a part of it was shot in South Africa and Ireland.
Simelane’s role was discovered after she put up a post where she was being pampered by a Caucasian make-up artist in what seemed like an aeroplane.
She confirmed with this journalist that she got the role in ‘The Professionals’, stating that she played a role of an air hostess and she said her scenes were part of the last shots of the series.
“I am at in scene that takes place at the airport,” said Simelane.
Her scene was shot in Johannesburg, South Africa but the scene projected to be in a French airport which needed two African air hostesses for Air France.
‘The Professionals ‘ is set against a backdrop of international espionage and corporate sabotage in the 21st century privately-funded space race and follow Welling as a hardened former counterintelligence officer Captain Vincent Corbo.
Starring is the internationally renowned Brendan James Fraser, an American-Canadian actor. He is best known for playing Rick O’Connell in ‘The Mummy’ trilogy, as well as for leading roles in comedy and fantasy films including ‘Encino Man’, ‘George of the Jungle’, ‘Bedazzled’, ‘Looney Tunes: Back in Action’ and ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’.
Simelane said being featured in an internationally renowned series was a great opportunity for her to expand her wings through networking on set.
“In this is way, better things will come my way with greater opportunities.”
Bagging such roles is becoming the norm for the liSwati model as last year, she was confirmed to be one of the casts of ‘Seriously Single’, a South African movie which will premier this year.
Her roles came after she made appearances on Netflix series titled ‘Queen Sono’.
ENCAC (Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture) CEO Stanley Dlamini has always said that the council was excited to learn that local artists were breaking new grounds.
“We are about placing artists in new spaces and audiences, ensuring that they become attractive to professional transactions,” said Dlamini.
Simelane’s appearance date in the series has not been revealed yet.
