TRIO TO HOST ONLINE COMEDY SHOW
MBABANE – Obviously, there are not many reasons or occasions to laugh at the moment.
With the coronavirus spreading across the globe, it can be difficult to find humour in anything, particularly the random attempts at diversion and hack topical jokes that might pop on your social media feed. Don’t these people know there’s a pandemic going on? and yet sometimes you need to laugh. That’s just how this stuff works.
After attracting more than 5 000 subscribers on YouTube, Smalllz the comedian, S’lwane and gogo will be hosting their first online comedy show dubbed ‘Hopes and bottomless laughter in times of COVID-29’.
This was confirmed by Smallz, whose real name is Lungelo Gina in an interview with the Entertainment Desk.
He said the purpose of the event was to create awareness on the coronavirus pandemic and to also bring a bit of laughter.
The event will be screened live on May 1, 2020 on their on their website, www.smallzthecomedian.com
emotional
“This show has been created to cater for emotional needs in light of the coronavirus pandemic. We want to deliver giggles and laughter as we very well know how much we all need it. It is a show curated in full honesty of the realities this crisis will plunge us in terms of retrenchments, closed businesses among many other emotional ruins - and we thought, what better way to help us heal a bit other than just what the doctor prescribed,” he said.
The event will also see the performance of the newly-added talented members of the group, Bongiswa Masondo and fuse of music by Luswiba.
“As usual, our people must expect premium quality stand-up comedy delivered by the talented quartet of Smallz the Comedian, S’lwane, Gogo and Bongiswa. They will also enjoy a performance by the young talented wordsmith , Festival B and some beautiful music by the next best thing in the Eswatini music scene, Luswiba, fresh out of Ngwane Park.
precisely
‘‘It will be an overall beautiful experience created precisely for you at the comfort of your home,” said Smallz.
He went on to add that the show was also dedicated to all the health workers and other departments that were on the front line in fighting the pandemic.
“It is a powerful segment dedicated to our much-appreciated front-liners; the doctors and nurses who have steered the ship in the thick of all emotional strains. We want them to know that we love them and we greatly appreciate them,” he shared.
compared
It is worth noting that the event organisers will not be getting any profit compared to a live show. With the show they will be able to connect with their followers.
“Our biggest take home from this show is not monetary, but it is the satisfaction of knowing that we shared our rich talents. This show which we believe will leave many of us comforted and knowing that in our little efforts, we were there for each other in the toughest of times. The feeling of knowing you helped someone forget their pains even if it is for a second is priceless to us,” he said
The event will also serve as a launch to their website, a project they have been working on for over the past six months; ‘a website through which our community will get access to quite a catalog of our work including their signature videos and other concepts that will be announced’.
