LOCK DOWN RAP CHALLENGE HITS 12 000

MBABANE - ‘We are getting a warm response.’ This was said by the brains behind the competition dubbed ‘Lock Down Rap challenge’, Korrosive Da MC, whose real name is Sonqoba Mavimbela.


The challenge was meant to empower upcoming artists as they will be giving away a prize worth E10 000.
In an interview with Korrosive Da MC, he said they managed to get over 80 participants.


They currently have 20 participants and they will be closing their voting lines on May 21, 2020.
“The response we are getting is amazing. People love the idea. Our top 20 brought fire,” he said.
It is worth noting that after the closing date they will announce the winner.
“Thursday is the last day for people to choose their winner. They are the judges as the winner will be determined by the reactions they got from people,” he said.


Engaging


The rap challenge managed to get over 12 000 views with close to 7 000 people participating. 
“This has been more than what I expected; people are really getting comfortable using social media to consume local art.
“Many people have been applauding the idea of putting out local content as it’s often overlooked most of the time while it has so much potential. We also recorded a total of 8 456 votes so far,” he added.


The competition is a collaborative project among FEAR clothing brand, NkaBi, TGMR,TEDDZ URBAN, Focus Talent Int and Culo Music App.


Upcoming hip hop musicians were tasked with finishing off a track for them to win the grand prize.
“This is more of a challenge that will also help upcoming artists to gain fans and also build a profile for themselves,” he said.
The lucky winner who will get more likes on Facebook will walk away with a local clothing brand merchandise sponsored by FEAR TGMR, TEDDZ URBAN and  NkaBi worth E1 000, a studio session to complete the songs with Korrosive and  also get two free studio sessions of their own choice of songs worth E500, an instrumental package by @metrognome808 worth E1 500, photo shoot  worth E500 sponsored by Focus Tales Int and a fully directed music video shoot with a budget of E6 000 sponsored by Focus Tales Int.


Voting


Supporters are still urged to continue voting for their favourite artists by liking their uploaded videos on Facebook.
“They can follow my page on Facebook, Korrosive Da MC’s. We would like to encourage candidates to use the following hash tags when supporting this initiative.
