MBABANE – As the nominations for the Social Media Awards to be hosted by Swazi Boy Entertainment TV closed at midnight yesterday, only 10 of the nominees will qualify for the voting stage.

Speaking to this publication, the entertainment stable’s Publicist Nozipho ‘Ur Gal Zee’ Masuku revealed that as the 10 nominees are selected, they will be voted for on their social media platforms, where pictures of the nominees will be posted. She revealed that each like on the picture will equate to a vote.

Qualify

Subsequent to the first voting stage, a further five nominees with the most votes will be announced, and then qualify to be in the final voting stage in each category.

“This stage of voting will last for four weeks, where the voting for the final will then be conducted using a message system from MTN Eswatini network,” she said.

Out of the five remaining nominees in each category, only one winner will be selected as a winner with the most votes from the SMS platform.

Masuku highlighted that an independent auditor will be engaged to verify the number of votes.

“Winners will be announced live at an awards ceremony to be announced in due course,” she mentioned.

In addition to this, a category named ‘The CEO’s Award’ will not be voted for but will, however, be chosen by the CEO of Swazi Boy Entertainment, which will go to the most deserving organisation or individual who has played a huge role in the arts.

Entertainment

The online awards revealed 34 categories for the awards, which will include all aspects of the local entertainment and arts scenes such as social media, photography, make-up, online shows, confectioner, radio, fashion as well as comedy to name a few. The publicist shared that as people used social media for different reasons such as marketing themselves, the Swazi Boy Entertainment team saw it best to include everyone who used the platforms as it was a tool that displayed their talent.

Since the voting closed at midnight, Masuku stated that they had not finished compiling the total number of nominees they had received yet.
