MBABANE – Bringing the awards to the nation.  Other than the Lockdown Online Gospel Music Awards being hosted on Facebook through the partnership with Destiny Group, the Association of Christian Artists in Eswatini (ACAESWA) has revealed that they will be partnering with Eswatini TV for these awards.
This was shared by ACAESWA’s Public Relations Officer, Nhlanhla Mathunjwa, in an interview with the publication yesterday.
The awards, which will take place this coming November, were officially launched on July 11, 2020 at The George Hotel in Manzini.

inspired

Mathunjwa said this move was inspired by the fact that they wanted to bring the awards to the people at home who had no access to social media.
Eswatini TV’s Communications Officer Nompumelelo Dlamini confirmed the partnership with the association and said she was looking forward to emaSwati viewing the people who keep them spiritually uplifted and entertained.
She urged locals not to miss out on this by purchasing the ‘sigujana’ set top boxes, which enable television owners to receive the channels signal.

acknowledged

The Chairperson of the awards, Patrick Gamedze acknowledged the partnership as well and sent appreciation towards the television station.
The nominees and their numbers will be revealed this coming Sunday at Mountain Inn, where the event will be made available to the public on the association’s Facebook page.

This will then be followed by voting, which will be announced at the nominee revealing event and close on the night of the awards.
The public categories will be decided by the public and are open to anyone who qualifies, while the technical categories will be decided by the adjudication panel except for ‘The Most Downloaded Gospel Song’ category, which will be based on online statistics.

While users of the two giant local networks can SMS ‘LOGMA’ followed by the artists’ name and category to the short code provided, Eswatini Post and Telecommunications Corporation users can vote for their favourite artists by purchasing recharge vouchers and then log on to http://voting.sptc.co.sz/portal/nominations/ and follow the steps.

pioneers

Macford Sibandze, who is one of the pioneers of elevating the local entertainment industry, supported this move as he made examples of other international award shows being showcased on national television.
Such awards show include the Crown Gospel Awards in South Africa, which are shown on SABC 1 as well as the Dove Awards in the United States of America viewed on TBN.

The awards are held in partnership with the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture, Destiny Group, Old Mutual Eswatini, Premier Bakeries, Dem Dem Recording Studios as well as Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority.
