MOZAIK TOPS CHARTS
MBABANE – Back with a bang. Eswatini award-winning and seasoned producer/artist Mozaik, The Producer, moved to the number one spot this week on the highly contested Eswatini Top 20 charts with song ‘Ekhaya’, displacing a one-week chart topper ‘Abondaba’ by Zimbabwean artist Shasha.
‘Ekhaya’ features siblings and MTN Spotlight 2019 finalists Yemaa and Oxygen JL, while Shasha had featured South African artist Samthing Soweto.
The song, which is the official theme track of the runaway hit television series titled ‘Ekhaya’, first debuted in the charts 10 weeks ago and has been rising up the ladder gradually to clinch the top spot. It was produced at Claiming Ground Records.
It adds to Mozaik The Producer’s cap another number one hit, following topping the charts in the past with songs like ‘Solo ka so’, ‘Nkunz’ malanga’, ‘New season’, ‘Headlines’, ‘Right on time’, ‘Gijima’, ‘Gwayimane’, ‘Destined to shine’, ‘Be me’, ‘Misbehave’, ‘Ngabe ngahuzuka’, and ‘Asibemunye’, among many others.
At number two was Polish dance Music Producer Kygo with his Tina Turner collaboration ‘What’s love got to do with it’ – a 2020 remake of the latter’s all-time classic. Completing the top three was Two3 Bars, real name Sakhile Dlamini, with song ‘Jikeleta’. He features Sam in the Mr Kangaroo-produced song.
The highest climber of the week was ‘Guidance’, a song by new sensation Sisekelo Shawn, which moved six places from 18 to 12.
Meanwhile, all three new entries this week are trending songs regionally; one from Canadian rapper Drake.
