MBABANE – Following the launch of the Social Media Awards by Swazi Boy Entertainment, the nominees have been revealed.

Speaking to this publication, the entertainment stable’s PRO Nozipho ‘Ur Gal Zee’ Masuku, revealed that the nomination period started three weeks ago.
She said the nominations were done through Twitter and Facebook on the @sma_eswatini handle as well as on the Swazi Boy TV page on Facebook.

The online platforms revealed 34 categories for the awards, which included all aspects of the local entertainment and arts scenes such as social media, photography, make-up, online shows, confectioner, radio, fashion as well as comedy to name a few.

Talent

The publicist shared that as people used social media for different things such as marketing themselves, the Swazi Boy Entertainment team saw it as the best opportunity to include everyone who used the platforms as they were tools that displayed their talents.

Masuku also shared that the awards had been inspired by the extreme talent in the country, which had been made evident through the lockdown period. “It has been more than six months ever since the lockdown was put in place by government to curb the spread of the coronavirus,” she highlighted.

In conclusion, Masuku said the voting procedure will be  through the participation of the public.
“We will be posting the nominees and people will choose their favourite by liking their pictures on Facebook and Instagram,” she said.
One of the nominees under best MC of the year category, Nicky Mamba, applauded the organisers of the awards for coming up with a fruitful idea.

“This is a great initiative; we really needed something positive as the COVID-19 pandemic affected the entertainment sector. I am honoured and excited to be nominated,” she said.
