MBABANE – Not such a bad year after all.

These were words tweeted by local RnB musician Adrienne Foo on Boxing Day as she reminisced about her song ‘Nguwe’, which earlier this year made it on to the Scorpion Kings’ EP which dropped in April this year. It all began when one local artist named The Boy Tapes shared a video of Adrienne Foo with a caption saying that he could not believe that all of that had occurred this year referring to when she was approached on social media by a member of the Scorpion Kings, DJ Maphorisa. The artist then responded to the tweet by saying that it had all started through a WhatsApp chat, where she made a revelation that she had tapped into the popular amapiano genre. “I’d be lying if I said I had a bad year. God,” she tweeted.
It was soon followed by comments from her pool of followers, who said the song and it’s beat were still in their hearts as well as that they hoped she would make more music in 2021.

Collection

The Extended Play titled ‘Once Upon A Time in Lockdown’ is a collection of 15 tracks that feature varying artists including Adrienne Foo’s song which is number five and available for downloads on digital music platforms. Born Nomfundo Sibandze, Adrienne Foo is a musician, whose passion for music began at an early age. News of the collaboration hit the streets in late February this year when DJ Maphorisa showed interest in her music which she had posted as a teaser on Twitter. The video immediately sparked conversations from people who encouraged the DJ and the songstress to finally make it happen. The Entertainment Desk has been closely following the developments of the artist’s song as it made it to Maphorisa’s set.

Being an RnB artist has not held the artist back from exploring any other genre as this latest feature is an amapiano track which gained prominence in late 2018.  She has made appearances on prominent stages in Eswatini as in 2014 she performed at the internationally acclaimed Swazi Jive event titled HipNotik Festival. The artist is also independent after parting ways with Swazi Jive Records last year in September.
