SOCIAL MEDIA AWARDS ON YOUTUBE

MBABANE – Ushering the new year in style.

The Social Media Awards, which are an initiative by Swazi Boy Entertainment, revealed yesterday that the awards will be aired on YouTube on New Year’s Day at 7pm. The event took place on December 12 at the Sharma House in Ezulwini, where local celebrities and personalities came in their elegant glitzy attires to celebrate. There were over 34 categories which celebrated during the awards which were included all aspects of the local entertainment and arts scenes such as social media, photography, make-up, online shows, confectioner, radio, fashion as well as comedy name. As people have used social media for different aspects such as marketing themselves, the Swazi Boy Entertainment team saw it best to include everyone who used social media platforms as a tool to display their talent.

Evident

The awards were inspired by the extreme talent in the country, which was made evident through the lockdown period. The event started with a red carpet walk, where people showed off beautifully made outfits by local designers and it took over two hours. While the event was slated for 6pm, it eventually started at 8pm with a few guests dripping wet from the heat emitted inside the hall. MCs for the event Ndosh WebeNgunee and Ur Gal Zee kick started the event with hilarious commentary and a description of what the whole function was about.  
There were a few performances from Zwile Bhembe and Sihlangu as well as Msimisi, who was accompanied by some of season one’s The Spotlight contestants.

Categories of the awards were announced by the best of Eswatini personalities such as Gciniwe Fakudze, DJ Wicked, Mo Cats, Notsile Nkambule and Dr Shakes as well as Mtha.
Over all the content which most of the nominees were rated from were recorded from their social media presence throughout the lockdown period experienced from March this year until present day. Award shows are the biggest in any entertainment calendar as they inspire artists to work hard and in most countries they are aired live on national television.

Awards

Such award shows include the South African Music Awards, Grammy Awards, Oscar Awards, Emmy Awards and the MTV Music Video awards to name a few. In Eswatini, glamorised award shows include the annual MTN SWAMA awards as well as the Lockdown Eswatini Gospel Awards. Audiences will be treated to five-star TV glamour as Swazi Boy brings Hollywood to Eswatini shores. Speaking to this publication, Swazi Boy Entertainment Public Relations Officer Nozipho ‘Ur Gal Zee’ Masuku urged locals to tune in on the day as this will be a great spectacle to remember as they share performances filled with real emotions as well as the award speeches and red carpet.
