MBABANE – Artists might be greatly affected by the country’s partial lockdown restrictions, but this has given them more time to make music.

It has exactly been a year since the COVID-19 pandemic had affected emaSwati and their livelihood in all sectors of the economy. Artists were also greatly affected by this, but to some, it has been a blessing in disguise as they have had time to make more music. Amapiano has undoubtedly been the most listened to genre and it is no coincidence that emaSwati artists have also started experimenting with that sound. A prime example will be for local artist Goddy Kid, whose real name is Sonnyboy Tsabedze, where he features Nanzy and Sikelela on an Amapiano track titled ‘Inhlitiyo’. The latest release by the artist is produced by international producer Plaster and mastered by Mr Kangaroo. Asked to relay more information on the song, Goddy assured house music heads that he was inspired to make the Amapiano song as means to prove that emaSwati were also capable of making hits just like South African artists.

Inspired

“The theme and the meaning of the title ‘Inhlitiyo’ means that we will be taking the music industry by storm together as a team and also it has a lesson inside that no matter what’s happening to your career, never give up,” he said. He further added by asserting, “we still believe that many people can be inspired through our music lyrically because it comes in many ways, as you listen it also heals the soul.” It is not the first time Goddy released a hit song that was well received by many as last year he dropped a single called ‘Emalobolo’, which was also produced by Mr Kangaroo. He further urged people to download his music on slikouronlife.com, musicbrakst and on his social media platforms as the links are always readily available.
