MBABANE – Hip hop Deejay Supa CDQ’s latest mix ‘Once Upon A Time In 2 Weeks’ has been well received by locals.

The 27-minute mix boasts of new hip hop sounds and up-tempo beats. It is currently sitting on over 900 listens and 300 shares, including the comments.  It has been quite some time since the spinner put out a body of work and he attributed this to a messed up creative routine, since the COVID-19 pandemic started, as his let down. “True, it had been a while since I last dropped any work of art since this pandemic started a year ago. My creative routine has been a mess since because my work as a health practitioner has been demanding a lot as well,” explained the DJ.

Supa CDQ, whose real name is Linda Dlamini, said he had put in a lot of work in the past months and the results were starting to show. Judging by his fans’ reaction to the mix, this is by far his greatest work. “I kind of did anticipate such a reception because I give my all to any work that I do and it is done out of love,” continued Dlamini. The art cover of the mix is what also garnered a lot of praise, the DJ shared that his cover was fully inspired by the current events in the country. “What has been happening in our country inspired the artwork and title of the mix. It speaks to my scene which is the Entertainment scene not operating for a long time due to restrictions,” continues Dlamini. He said his plan was to drop one or two mixes on a monthly basis and they will be made available on Apple Podcast and Hearthis.com.

In closing, CDQ applauded the government for finally deciding to open the Arts industry although he said it was a bit too late. “I really appreciate that government has reviewed its decision where we have already lost so much and the timing no longer works for us,” affirmed the artist. In addition he said the industry would probably be closed again as there was a possibility of a third wave which also required strict guidelines. “Our Government could have taken this decision a long time ago and we would have been able to continue making a living but now it is a bit too late and the timing is tricky,” he said. Supa CDQ has played locally and outside the country where he has also opened up for acts like Emtee, AKA and Mlindo the Vocalist name a few. His last gig was the popular event Pop Sunday, where he always managed to gather the crowd onto the dance floor.
