SANDS TOURS SA, ALBUM DROP DRAWS NEARER
MBABANE – His highly anticipated album is still not out but Sands is already on the road.
Real name Sandziso Matsebula, the ‘Golden Boy’ as he is affectionately known is yet to release his album- ‘Rhythm of Sands’ but he is already serenading fans in the neighboring country with his electric and captivating performances. This past weekend’s performances in that country came after the South African government eased its COVID-19 restrictions, allowing for gatherings to take place but in a controlled and COVID-19 compliant set up. The ‘Emaciniso’ hit-maker headlined the Nkomazi FM Exclusive Music Share listening session which took part at the Khayalethu Park and Lodge in Mbombela (Nelspruit). From there he went on to perform at Eswatini-born DJ Zoe’s 40th fundraising gala luncheon which was also held at Mbombela.
With events in the country only permitted to host only 100 people at venues for small scale music concerts, Sands expressed his excitement at performing outside the country’s borders. “I’ve been busy with my album doing studio work all along so I guess time flew a bit but we had a great performance and we hope for more to come,” said Sands. His manager, Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini further disclosed that the artist was available for bookings and appearances as part of a promotion for his upcoming album which will be dropping next month (April). “He has already confirmed a couple of radio interviews and performances and we are optimistic that we will be able to lock down a few more before the imminent third wave. People are receiving his new music very well. ‘Emaciniso’ - his second single (after Ngiyathandaza) has already been approved and play-listed all over Southern Africa.
excited
He is excited to be back on the road and we appreciate the love and support we are getting from those who are booking him,” asserted Dlamini. Dlamini went on to add that Sands will be performing at a private event this coming Sunday as the rest were upcoming album launches. He mentioned that these were trying times as his artist’s performances in South Africa relied on which direction the local and SA government would take. According to Eyewitness News, a reputable online news publication reported that with concerns around a spike in COVID-19 infections over the upcoming religious holidays, President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to make an announcement soon on what measures will be implemented to curb a further spread. This follows after the Acting Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, who gave an update on Thursday on the outcomes of the Cabinet meeting held last week Wednesday.
