CLEMENT TO HOST WRITER’S CONFERENCE THIS MAY
MBABANE – Renowned professional writer Clement Dlamini will be hosting a writer’s conference for members of the public aspiring to be professional authors.
The event will be coupled with Mbali Masuku’s book launch titled ‘Maintaining Holiness Post Campus’ and it will be held at the Liberty Community Center in Manzini on May 1, 2021. Clement Dlamini is a writing coach who discovered the passion for writing in his early teenage years and has made a name for himself in the local writer’s industry throughout the years. “Just because people know me as a professional writer who is publicly renowned as the best, I had been receiving a lot of calls, e-mails and Facebook inboxes from interested natives asking a lot of questions like; how to be a writer? What should I do to improve my writing skills? What necessary steps should I take in order to be a good writer, of which I’d usually attend and answer these questions in my inbox fairly well and free of charge until an entrepreneurial thought of monetising and commercialising my services crept into my mind,” he said.
Asked on the attendance criteria, Dlamini said everyone was welcome to attend the conference since being a writer meant putting thoughts into text which varied from sending e-mails, posting on social media, making updates to your resume and merely sending messages to your loved ones. He went on to add that if one’s job required any type of writing like compiling reports, presentations and writing newsletters, they were more than welcome to attend the event in order to sharpen their skills. He asserted that on the day of the event, in collaboration with his co-host partner, Sakhile Hlatshwako, who is a writing consultant; more details pertaining the know-how on writing would be discussed.
“On this event, me and my co-host partner Sakhile Hlatshwako, who’s a writing consultant, will fervently unveil everything which pertains to writing and if you want to be a good or better writer, just book your seat by paying E50 via mobile money to 7816 3486, call or alternatively send a WhatsApp to 7918 5022,” he mentioned. Dlamini said the topics of discussion would include how to perfect your craft, identifying your writing niche, selling yourself through writing, signs that you are a writer and a lowdown on how to publish a book. He, however, emphasised that the event would be held under strict COVID-19 regulations and that the event would commence from 11am up until 1:30pm so as to abide by the stipulated amount of time an event can be held according to the COVID-19 regulations. “Due to COVID-19 regulation adherence, the event will only last for two and a half hours starting from 11am that day. Interested attendees will only be allowed into the venue when wearing a face mask and during the proceedings people will be seated 1.5 meters apart,” he said. He urged members of the public who were interested to book their seats as they had a limited capacity of 50, of which 20 per cent of them had already been booked.
