MBABANE – If you still have not registered, this could be your last chance.

Ntjilo-Ntjilo will be hosting a competition giving away E5 000 to the main winner. Speaking to the brains behind the concept, Mathokoza Sibiya, he said the competition dubbed ‘Ntjilo-Ntjilo 3rd Wave’ will be open for singers, dancers, poets, comedians, ventriloquists or any other stage art performance. He said this year’s competition would be open to people from the ages of eight to 35. “People can participate in the talent competition aimed at encouraging meaningful play, supporting young local talent and developing it to its full potential through networks in the industry,” he said. It is worth noting that the competition started in 2016 with 30 children and three choirs participating but it has grown to 100 participants per region including choirs from different genres.

purpose

Sibiya said the purpose of the competition was to help young people face social economic issues and also create a podium for them to showcase their talent.  “Most young people are full of anger and low self-esteem resulting from various social ills such as lack of education, poor academic performance, physical and emotional abuse, poverty and  loneliness to name a few,” he said. Sibiya explained that the competition will have five categories which include children from eight to 11 years, children from 12 to 14 years, candidates from 15 to 35 years, classical soloist and miscellaneous choirs. Interested individuals are encouraged to record themselves presenting their acts on a video, not exceeding one minute and 30 seconds. “The recording must open with the artists mentioning their name, gender and age,” he said. He went on to share that interested candidates can send their recordings via WhatsApp to 7661 0041. The closing date is on July 18, 2021

encourage

“The main mandate of the competition is to help eradicate those issues, unearth new talent and create a platform for brands to interact with current or future clients. We want to restore hope and encourage livelihoods during the pandemic,” he said. All audition submissions should be accompanied by a registration fee of E50 as is the Ntjilo-Ntjilo norm. Registration fee should be sent via MTN mobile money to 7661 0041. Sibiya also emphasized that they would not be accepting any entries after the date mentioned above, including material sent without the registration fee. “Contestants are encouraged to have active WhatsApp accounts and enough data bundles to send and receive material.  They must also make sure they receive a confirmation for both the video clip and fee,” he said.
