MBABANE – Thirty-eight young and gifted participants of The Spotlight Season 3 have made it to the next stage of the competition, which is Canary Day this weekend.

The Spotlight is Eswatini’s biggest talent search show for musicians and is in its third season powered by MTN Eswatini and partners. Canary Day is derived from the bird that sings which is a canary and it is believed that the participants will share sweet melodies like that of a bird or better. The 38 have been given their Y’ello tickets and now have to impress the judges live during auditions to try and make it to the top 20.

Excited

According to Landokuhle Dlamini, MTN Brand Communications and Sponsorship Manager, the 38 participants were part of close to 200 entries that were received digitally this year. “We are so excited to conclude the digital phase of the auditions with so much talent. The youth of Eswatini showed themselves to be quite tech savvy as for the first time we had all our application on the website without any other platforms. The numbers were quite good and the talent is worth watching,” she said. Dlamini explained that during the live auditions to be held under strict COVID-19 regulations, the participants would rendition any song of their choice to try and impress the judges in person this time. She thanked everyone who participated including those who did not make it to the next round saying it does not mean they did not have the best of talent. “We encourage you to take the words of advice from the judges practice, practice and practice some more and try again next season,” Dlamini reiterated.
