YOUR CHANCE TO FIND PERFECT MATCH
MBABANE - Are you looking for love?
As Simra Khurana would say: “It is a jungle out there. Everybody is looking for that elusive one true love. People are willing to do anything to land their dream partner.” A new exciting show is here to help you get the apple of your eye, your true love through a show dubbed ‘Choose My Date.’ The concept of the show, which is a new dating programme produced in Eswatini, is about a singleton ranging from the ages of 18 and above and two potential dates. The singleton is set to have a one-on-one conversation with the two potential date partners at different times. Finally, the singleton will get to choose between the two potentials after which he will go on a final date with the chosen partner. Speaking to the brains behind the show, Sandile Ngcamphalala, he said the purpose of the show was to create a platform for single people to find their perfect match despite the current COVID-19 regulations that prohibited unnecessary gatherings and movements.
Create
“The purpose is to create a platform for single people to find their perfect match through a one on one conversation and drawing a certain love interest among themselves in pursuing a relationship in the future. “Since we live under the new regulations that prohibit unnecessary gatherings and encourages less movement, this show will create a platform for single people to find their potentials partners, “he said. When asked on how they will conduct the show he said they would use one location and adhere to all health precautions to curb the spread of the virus. He went on to explain how the participant would choose a date. “The show is set to be in one location where our participant and two potential dates will be filmed. The singleton will have a one-on-one conversation with the first potential date getting to know each other while enjoying drinks. Then the singleton will also have another chat with the second potential date. After the two dates, then the candidate will have to choose his or her date. That’s why the dating show is called Choose My Date,” he explained.
It is worth noting that this will be the first ever reality love show to take place in the country. “The participants should expect to find their future love partner and excitement. The viewers should expect a first reality dating show in Eswatini with excitement, unscripted, a real and interesting show. They should also expect to see people pursing love as love is a wonderful, good precious feeling which everyone should have,” he added. The show will only welcome people who are above 18 and looking for love.
“Every single person is welcomed to be on the reality dating show as long as that particular individual is above 18 years old. People can find us on our social media sites, on WhatsApp they can 7613 9764, our Facebook page is Choose My Date , Instagram Choose My Date and check us on YouTube Choose My Date Eswatini. For now we are working on the place the show will be filmed,” he said.
Interactions
It is worth noting that online interactions often create a false intimacy that can be intoxicating to those suffering from loneliness and neglect. For those specifically seeking love and companionship in an online dating format, love bombing can have a more significant impact. Nevertheless, whether online or in person, one must remember that a natural pacing to building emotional and physical intimacy is of the utmost importance. As explained by Ngcamphalala, he said natural pacing allows one to see their potential partner for who they truly are (or are not). “One should be wary of an online match’s hard and fast love. Traffickers often seek to build a rapid intimacy with a target. They desire the target to fall in love with them as a means to later manipulate and coerce the target into compliance. The bottom line is if a match seems far too eager or is professing love in a short period, this might be an initial sign. Rule of thumb: take it slow,” he said.
Influencer
In an interview with Dr Shakes who is a renowned comedian and influencer, he applauded the Choose My Date show. He said the concept was brilliant and shared that people would be assisted. “This is an exciting initiative; we will be entertained most importantly some will find their true love. Everyone deserves to be happy,” he said. The comedian went on to advice love seekers to always be vigilant with these types of games and must always meet suitors in a public setting where their safety is guaranteed. Meluleki ‘Sluga’ Simelane who is also a social media influencer concurred with Dr Shakes and pleaded with people to participate. “This is an exciting programme; we hope people will participate, with good intentions of course. We have always wanted these types of reality shows. There used to be a similar show called All You Need Is Love. The concept was exciting. I am positive that people will come out of their shells and find love,” he added. More details on where the show will be aired and entry requirements will be published in this publication.
