NDUDUZO MATSE TO PERFORM IN DUBAI
MBABANE – Music is the universal language of mankind.
This adage holds true to one of the local gospel music giants Ndududzo Matse who will be performing at Expo 2020. The world Expo is currently hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from October 1, 2021 to March 31 ,2022. Originally scheduled for October 20 , 2020 to 10 April 2021, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ‘Gelekece’ hitmaker will be mesmerising the audience with our soft accent and lovely melodies filled with the Holy Spirit.
In an interview with the award winning artist, he expressed his excitement and shared that he will be leaving the country on October 9, 2021 and will be back on October 14. “I will be travelling and performing live in Dubai. I will be leaving the kingdom on Saturday morning. I am definitely so excited about this international door, it can only be God,” he said.
When asked on the type of songs he would be rendering, he said music exists in every society both with and without words. He said it varies more within than between societies. “One of my main mandates is ministering through the gospel. I will be ushering people into the presence of the most high despite the language barrier. I have been performing for a while now over 10 years and my work has been received well all over. My work gets the invitations. People should expect nothing less than an energetic performance with an uncompromising African sound,” he explained.
Ceremony
According to Emirates the Expo 2020 was officially opened on September 30, 2021. The ceremony featured performances by Italian tenor, British singer, Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo and Saudi singer Mohammed Abdu , American singer Andra Day and Chinese pianist Lang Lang, among others. The opening declaration was made by the Emir of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Matse will be performing with different artist from around the world. Artists from Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Brazil, Benin, Botswana, Bolivia and Belgium to mention a few.
“They will be having different genres and I know our African sound will blend in,” he said. The Public Relations Officer of the Association of Christian Artists of Eswatini (ACAESWA), Nhlanhla Mathunjwa congratulated Matse and also applauded the organisers for inviting him. “It’s exciting to see one of our members shinning on international stages. This shows that we are cable of achieving a lot; we would like to applaud the organisers for recognising local talent. We wish him all the best and we are positive that he will represent the country well. We would also like to urge him to take advantage of the opportunity to create more contacts so that other local musician can also benefit from his great achievement,” he said.
The Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC), President Stanley Dlamini also congradulated Matse. He also touched on the importance of monitizing the entertainmnet sector. “Matse’s achievement proves that Eswatini is a home of true talent. The arts sector is also capable of improving the economical scale of the country. We wish him all the best,” he said.
France Dlamini who is also a gospel artists and a mentor to Matse congratulated him. “We are so proud of him. His hard work and dedication to spread the good news is now bearing good fruits. May God be with him,” he said. Matse will end the year on a high note despite of the current COVID-19 that has halted the entertainment sector.
