20 CONTESTANTS MESMERISE JUDGES

The public last week joined the MTN Spotlight as the fourth judge and they were tasked to choose songs they would like their favourite contestants to sing. It is worth noting that this will happen every week until the finale. The top 20 which was selected this past weekend was tasked to choose their own songs to perform for the judges as well as the audience at home who will be viewing through streaming the show online.
First to take the stage was Bongumusa Mtshali (18), who walked in with confidence that captured the judges’ attention. Mtshali sang a song by Billie Eilish titled ‘Everything I wanted’. The judges Ndumiso Dlamini, Velemseni and guest judge for the day, Mozaik, who is a music producer and artist were visibly impressed by her performance. She was then followed by Ntsetselelo Mkhonta, who rendered a song as a dedication to his mother living who has a disabilitiy.
Emotional
Contestant number five, Tandzile Tsabedze(20) sang a song by Sam Smith titled ‘Make it to me’ and left one of the judges emotional. “Congratulations, you are the first contestant to make me cry,” said Velemseni. All judges commended her performance. Banele Tfusi (18) also left judges impressed. Mnqobi Nkambule (21), who sang a song he composed was applauded by the guest judge. “Singing your own lyrics is challenging, as a rapper you need to memorise every word. We all need to acknowledge the effort made by rappers,” he said.
Shaz Mosta looked like a star in her African print top that matched her red shoes. She sang a song by Zahara titled Ndiza. “You have an amazing voice but the song choice really does not present you well,” said judge Ndumisio. All the contestants brought their A-game with the hope that the public will vote for them. The Spotlight Host ‘KrTC’ encouraged the public to vote for their favourite act.
Winner
Wrapping up the show was the first MTN Spotlight winner, the ‘Note to self’ hit maker , Llucid Musiq. He congratulated the contetants and shared his hearfelt appreciation to the judges. The MTN Spotlight Season 3 is powered by Nandos, Destiny Group, Mantenga Lodge, Super Signs, Sitiba’s Hair and Makeup, Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA), Huawei, Eswatini TV, KrTC of Hip Hop Clothing, and Lifespan Diagnostics.
