MBABANE – There’s a new reality television show for married couples.

Eswatini TV viewers will be pleased to know that married couples will now be catered for with regards to shows aired on the biggest television station in the kingdom. The new show is called ‘Love Exists’ and is a game show created for couples who are in a committed relationship, that is people who are married either the western or African way.

The show which is at the final stages of production will be hosted by a young God-fearing couple Senzo and Sibusisiwe Gamedze who have been married for six years and have been blessed with two beautiful daughters. Gamedze is an accountant by profession and a worship minister and his wife Sibusisiwe Gamedze, who is in the profession of monitoring and evaluation. She is currently an monitoring and evaluation coordinator with one of the NGOs in the country. When speaking to this publication, Gamedze said the main aim was to encourage married couples to create beautiful memories in their married  life, promote fun within couples and to encourage couples to understand one another.

Well-being

“For us this is not about having vast experience in the fraternity of marriage and we are not marriage councillors yet, but we advocate for the well-being of marriages. In the few years we've been married, we have come to understand that young couples are going through a lot which may include financial stress, family issues, and lack of fun within families,” he said. He further mentioned that even the COVID-19 crisis had also brought some confinement and frustrations among families which then culminated in these circumstances which have led many families settling for separation and divorce. ‘So our vision is to bring the element of leisure in the midst of all that is going on in their lives and we have decided to use the TV programme backseat as people relate better when they are watching. Our hope is that our guests and viewers will take what the show is about and apply it in their love lives,” he said.

Broadcasted

To cater for a wider audience, the show will be broadcasted with a mix of Siswati and English. Each show will have a couple as guests who will play the games. The 26-minute programme will be split into three which is the introduction and general life, the games conducted by the hosts and the quizzes.
According to the hosts of the show, it will air on Sundays between 5pm and 6pm on Eswatini TV during the festive season leading into 2022  and will also be available on YouTube.

Confirming this was Nompumelelo Dlamini, Eswatini TV’s Communications Officer. She however said, “We have received a proposal regarding the show ‘Love Exists’ and we are working on it. We are yet to officially announce to the public once everything has been finalised,” she said. The television programme (Love Exists) is the second show which will soon be aired by the station as this publication wrote about another similar show but for singletons dubbed, ‘Choose My Date’.

Singletons

The show is a new dating programme produced in Eswatini, whereby it consists of singletons ranging from the ages of 18 and above and two potential dates also ranging from the ages of 18 and above. The purpose of the show is to create a platform for single people to find their perfect match through a one-on- one conversation and drawing a certain love interest among themselves in pursuit of a relationship in the future.
