MBABANE – This week’s first annual OME street drag race will be hosted by South African motorsport expert, Victor Pardal.

OME stands for Obsession Motorsport Eswatini which is the entity that will be hosting the event, which is a first in the country. Slated to take place along the Nokwane Road (near Summerfield), the event is anticipated to attract South African and Mozambican motorsport fanatics who will also be showcasing their cars as there will be races between same class fine-tuned cars. The event which is dubbed ‘Boss Of The Road’ will take place this Saturday, January 29, 2022 and the organisers have spiced up the entertainment as South African and Mozambican participants with fast cars will also be a part of the event.

Racing

The event will only be limited to 32 entrants as the racing licence will be priced at E300 for each driver. All entries will pre-register (scrutinised), ensuring all cars and motorbikes meet safety or race criteria in terms of road worthiness and competitiveness. The street race will take place on 960 meters of tar which is a quarter mile (403m) format. Speaking to OME's Terence Rudd, he mentioned how excited the motorsport club was to have permission to periodically and exclusively use this stretch of road at the Biotechnology Park situated at Nokwane next to Summerfield Botanical Gardens. He also urged everyone to attend the event which is a first the country has ever hosted.

Hosted

It is worth noting that the after party will be hosted at Esibayeni Lodge. The activities on the day will begin as early as 7am and ending at 17:30 pm.  Tickets for adults will cost E150 and E80 for children. Music will be served by legendary DJ Wicked at the newly launched Skyy Vu (located at Esibayeni Lodge) which will be launched on the day as the after party will be hosted there. There will also be a kiddies section and fun activities for the whole family which will include face painting, balloons and jumping castles.
