Ezulwini - These words were echoed by the South African Gospel artist SbuNoah on Saturday evening.

Born Sibusiso Mthembu, the star packed Happy Valley Hotel, this was evident as there were no seats available, or space to manoeuvre around. Mzwakhe Khumalo aka ‘Tjovitjo’ was the programme director, he took to the podium at 6:30pm to welcome the Gospel lovers. The programme director informed the crowd that the tickets to the show were sold out. He reassured the fans who were already seated just after 6pm that indeed the South African star was already at the venue. He also made fun of the fact that the performers can’t be late, when the Bishop was already seated waiting for the proceedings to start, before being welcomed on stage. Bishop Mpendulo Khambule opened the show with a prayer and worship at 6:46pm.

He was followed by the first act of the night Majaha The Poet who gave a Gospel piece that set the tone for the night. Banale Dlamini was the second local act on stage. The star of the night walked in and was unannounced, he booked a seat at the front. He only made his presence known when he stood up and waved at his fans, much to the delight of the crowd, who cheered and screamed in excitement. He also joined in on worship as Dlamini was on stage, also danced with the fans much to the surprise of many as he mingled freely, which is not usually for big  international acts.

He finally took to the stage at 7:40pm and performed one song, he then asked for a Bible to give a sermon. He read the book from 2 Chronicles 20:15-20, then took to song. He shared with the Gospel lovers that he wanted to bring his platinum sales award to show emaSwati of their work, as they are his biggest fans. “I’m always humbled to be in the country, emaSwati are my biggest fans, they download my music on ITunes which contribute to the sales,” said SbuNoah.  He went on to say sometimes one doesn’t get the support from where they come from but elsewhere, and that’s okay. He shared that he’s form Umlazi in KwaZulu-Natal.

Moment

SbuNoah also shared an intimate moment with the fans when he sang the song titled Ngiyagcinwa. He told the fans that the particular song got him through the most difficult times of his life last year, when his lost his mother, who was his biggest cheerleader. “I never looked for validation from people, as I got that from my pillar, my mom. She attended all my shows and my last recording, I’m glad she had the chance to see me do what I love,” shared the star. He further went on to say that he hoped everyone was wearing flat shoes as they were going to be on their feet for the two and half hour show. He took a five minute break for wardrobe change. On his return on stage he joked that even Beyoncé’s changes her outfits several times. The Gospel lovers indeed worshipped and sang along until he was supposed to leave the stage just before 10pm. The fans refused for him to leave the stage and begged for one more song, and he obliged and played the crowd favourite that put him on the spotlight with the much loved Joyous Celebration Choir titled Nkateko.
