LOCAL RAPPER MEETS ERYKAH BADU
MBABANE - Local rapper Oriiginelle got a chance to rub shoulders with RnB icon, Erykah Badu.
Born Makhosazana Thwala, she met the American singer-songwriter during her sistercation in Berlin, Germany. In a series posted by the rapper, popularly known for ‘Madloti’ hit song, she was seen with Badu sharing a light moment. She also had her jacket signed by the Grammy award-winning singer. She described the moment that lasted for 10 minutes as surreal and that it was the highlight the event. The rapper shared that the event was a very intimate session; about 50 people at most were there Badu arrived at the venue and spoke about her journey and how happy she was that everyone made it. “We then got time to talk to her individually. I told her that I have been a big fan of her music for a very long time, and how honoured I was to meet her, because I never thought I would,” said the rapper.
Origiinelle stated that she could see herself meeting people like Chris Brown or Drake but never in a million years did she ever envision Erykah Badu.
In addition, the rapper mentioned that they spoke at length, and that Badu was pleasant and calm. “Her calmness was quite intimidating, I will be honest but she was very receiving of us and told me to keep going with my music and that I must just trust the process like she did.“I hope we meet her over and over again, in every life time,” she wrote on her Instagram wall.

When interviewed about her trip, the chart-topping rapper said it was a personal visit to Berlin with her sister. They have been in the said country for slightly over three weeks now. “So it started when my sister and I decided to go on a sister vacation to Europe. The plan was to go to Spain and Portugal (for Afro Nation) then head home. When we got to Portugal, we met two lovely ladies from Germany and we hit it off,” she said. She went on to say they learnt that she’s a rapper, and invited her to Germany with her sister. One would remember that Badu shut down one of the Royal Palaces in the country when she had come for His Majesty’s private celebration in 2014.
