MAKHOSI KHOZA LAUNCHES BOOK
Mbabane – Ngizolalela Emsakazweni!
Radio broadcaster Makhosi Khoza has launched his memoir titled ‘Ngizolalela Emsakazweni’ . The book tells a story about his 30-year journey in broadcasting and the different radio stations he has worked for across South Africa (SA). The book was launched yesterday in Johannesburg, at TMF Studios, which coincided with his birthday. The launch attendance was by invite only. Khoza made the official announcement about the book live on ENCA news channel 403 at 8:30am yesterday. He was interviewed by Tumelo Mothotoane. When reached for comment Khoza said, “It’s been a long time coming, nine years ago the seed was planted, but nine years later the book has arrived. Makhosi Khoza has finally published his memoir. Those closest to him will know that he has pretty much spoken of nothing else but the book being published, that day has come.
Education
The autobiography covers the journey that took this Mbabane native across the border for an education but returned him to the motherland as a broadcaster,” shared Khoza. The book unpacks his early childhood, touches on life when his father, the late ARV Khoza was imprisoned and the family’s subsequent relocation to Zambia upon his release. The publication unpacks the ups and downs of a radio presenter. His first major radio station was shut down and he was unemployed for a year. Khoza has been head hunted into management and seen things from beyond the scenes and not just on-air. It’s also a personal account of entering different worlds given SA’s racial climate, vastly different from the politics of Eswatini. The book is an easy read, of just under 200 pages and the title is borrowed from an expression used by listeners when they called in and gave their two- cents on-air, and wrap things up by saying to the presenter ‘I’ll listen on the radio for your response thanks’.
Its worth mentioning that he has raised the flag for three decades. Khoza spent his entire school life at St Mark’s and then enrolled at University of Eswatini (UNESWA). He also attended The Howard College Campus at University of Natal, where he discovered a campus station and the rest as they say is history. He has worked at Capital Radio, East Coast Radio, was a correspondent on BBC Radio Berkshire and Channel Africa, Megazone Hit Radio, Gagasi FM, Vuma Fm, RISE FM, Radio 2000, 702 and CapeTalk. He set up his own radio training course and has mentored dozens of talents in the radio industry.
