MBABANE – Antidote’s !Sooks 2022 single titled ‘Musa’ has set the record locally after raking in 43 613 streams on the digital platform.

Born Sukoluhle Dlamini, !Sooks’ musical exploits have established him as one of Southern Africa’s top electronic music talents. He has graced several stages in his career with the recent one being last year in Amsterdam, where he enjoyed a tour and performed at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).

He recently made an appearance at House on Fire during the Traffic Light Party which was held last week Friday.
In his song titled ‘Musa’, the DJ collaborated with Velemseni who is a local artist. This song claimed number three in Eswatini Top 20 Charts in the month of August last year in Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS2). ‘Musa’ the profound House single, taken from the siSwati word ‘Umusa’ loosely translated to grace. It’s a spiritual song that conveys a message of gratitude for the gift of grace.

Velemseni, whose name means ‘one who comes from grace’, renders a captivating performance over an enchanting melody composed by !Sooks. After reaching these massive streams, the talented musician said that he was actually surprised. “I haven’t checked my numbers in a while, but after seeing them I was surprised. These are the streams which define the work I put in. With God on my side I hope that I will reach a million streams one day. Locally I haven’t seen such streams for a local song, I could be wrong and I am really sorry if I am but this is way big for Eswatini and I am humbled,” the DJ shared.

“I really work hard and I really take my craft seriously. It really means a lot man when you know that people outside of the country and the continent relate to your music. Relating to what you made is really special and it feels good but obviously. It is not a big deal for me though as I have not yet reach the point where I want to be, these numbers are just a motivation that I am headed in the right direction with my craft and that is what I strive to achieve,” !Sooks added.

Trend

Such news come at a time where the local musician is currently setting the trend again with his new banger titled ‘Cry me a river’. This song recently attracted German-born spinner Ralph Gum during a show in South Africa (SA) after the hit was dropped by Vinny Da Vinci and DJ Christos on the decks during the show. Ralf Gum is one of the most respected figures in the local House music scene for the distinctive qualities in his productions and DJ sets. At a House music event dubbed ‘Addicted 2 House’ which was held in Vosloorus, East Rand Johannesburg SA, legendary musician Ralf Gum stormed off the stage to ask Vinni Da Vinci and Christos who produced the song. Christos informed him that it was !Sooks and nodded with a smile while also dancing to the song.
