LIVE PERFORMANCES FOR GOSPEL SHOW’S NEXT AUDITIONS
MBABANE – The Mother of all Gospel Shows will be throwing contestants into the deep end in the next stage of the ongoing auditions that will be held at Manzini Library.
The Mother of all Gospel Shows is an initiative which started in 2014 by Gospel artist Nduduzo Matse to unearth talent, mainly in the local Gospel industry. This year’s auditions come as a third edition for this concept that unearths, records and markets upcoming musicians in the country.
Sustainability
Through this initiative, the team behind the show is committed to the sustainability and growth of the local Gospel industry. The Mother of all Gospel shows successfully recorded artists such as Nduduzo Matse and Lomkhosi Makhubu, who are now doing very well locally in terms of penetrating the local market. The ongoing auditions are also an initiative made possible by the presence of Swazi Praise, which is also playing a major role in discovering talent locally. Last Saturday, contestants gathered at Manzini Music Lounge where eliminations were conducted to reduce current contestants to 20. However, due to the massive talent locally, the team behind the auditions ended up getting 31 contestants instead. The team said this was not a challenge at all since they would be heading to Manzini Library on March 18, 2023 to further reduce the number. About 90 aspiring musicians were able to avail themselves for the Manzini auditions, all of them appeared before the judges and auditioned successfully for the whole day.
Auditions
During the auditions, it was also disclosed that there would be live performances, as contestants would be auditioning in the presence of a live band. This was disclosed by one of the organisers of the auditions, Nomalungelo Nhleko. “On March 18 we are getting our Top 20 during the live performances in Manzini. Please note that during the day, an audience will be allowed inside the venue to watch the auditions live. Due to the great talent that Eswatini has, we ended up having our Top 31. Congratulations to all those who made it through the elimination stage,” Nhleko said.
