MBABANE - Woza Albert is a renowned satirical South African theatre play written by Percy Mtwa, Barney Simon and Mbongeni Ngema in 1981.

Even though written many years ago, the play remains relevant in theatre spaces as it demonstrates innovation and creativity during a seminal period of theatre. The play will premiere at Twilight Theatre Concepts, set to be launched on June 02, this year at the Theatre Club. The Twilight will see a series of theatre shows hosted every month beginning from June until December. Larry Mhlanga, who is one of the organisers, said: “International acclaimed productions have been confirmed, and these include; An Act Of Man,  which is a Zimbabwean production. It features successful multi award winning and well-travelled actor Zenzo Nyathi. It will run from June 22-23. Hymns Of Sparrow is set for July when it comes back from Fringe Festival in June at Grahamstown and many other big international big productions to be announced soon as part of the Twilight Theatre Concept series.” Mhlanga went on to share with this publication that Twilight Theatre Concepts is a new idea initiated to create spaces for dissemination of mainstream theatre plays around the world to Eswatini audiences.

Imagination

“The artistic language of the Twilight Theatre Concepts originates from imagination, knowing the cultural roots of the international theatre standards and Swati culture. Whether a professional or a self-taught person, award winner or a performer directly from the ‘school bench’ of the arts school, they all have one thing in common: they want to inspire others with their passion.  This is the basis of the Twilight Theatre Concepts. A series of mainstream theatre plays will be hosted monthly from June until Decembe, he said.
