A CALL FOR LOCAL TALENT
MBABANE- Competing all the way to the USA!
A call for local talent has been made by Kids In Motion Director, Velile Dube, who announced that she will be hosting A Show Your Talent-Eswatini Competition in July/August 2023 which will eventually compete in the finals in United States of America (USA) next year.
This comes after the Director of the South African (SA) competition, Juanita Oosthuizen, trusted her to find local talent for Talent America 2024.Dube shared with this publication that in previous years they would need to travel to South Africa to compete in the regionals, and then nationals before actually making it to the internationals. However, this year after recent talks with Oosthuizen, Dube shared that artists only need to compete and be judged locally then shoot straight to Talent America as team Eswatini.
“It is obviously not as easy as it sounds; Talent America is a very high quality competition, so we need quality acts. We are going to be very strict about the standard of acts because we need to represent Eswatini very well” Dube said. She said she would be using her experience in dance and getting other local industry experts to help her put together a very powerful team for the international competition. I am a very experienced dancer, so I know exactly what to look for when it comes to dance, but when it comes to acting and other acts, I will be working with local industry experts”
The competition will comprise of the following categories: Dancing, Acting, Modelling, Singing, Creative Works, Instrumental and Photogenic. It is open to all ages. There will be a joining fee which will be announced as the competition details are released. It will be plus minus E200 per item.
Dube went on to say that the best local act will stand a chance of winning E5000. “There is also an incentive for those who will be competing locally. The best local act will receive E5000, and will then be invited to travel with us to America in July 2024”. Dube said they are looking at having a very strong team of about 20 people. “It could be more, but for a start 20 is a manageable number for traveling to Talent America as this will be the first of its kind. We will be joining the South African team when traveling to the US because the director of the competition in Africa is Juanita from South Africa.
Talent America is a talent competition open to performer of all ages. It has an amazing proven track record for talent to be discovered and is where many of todays hottest actors, models, singers, dancers, rising stars and entertainers got their big break.
