BHOLOJA INCLUDED IN MAKOTI FESTIVAL
MBABANE – Multi-award-winning musician Bholoja has been added to the line-up of Makoti Festival.
Born Mbongiseni Ngubane, famously known as Bholoja, has performed abroad and shared stages with celebrated musicians such as Ghanian Stallion from Denmark, Aka Kellz from Denmark, Don Laka, and Venior from Finland, to name a few. He recently released a bizarre African contemporary album titled ‘Imphilo’, which is made up of 11 tracks.
Released in July 2023, the album was produced under the international record label, One World Records.
It gained popularity and secured 14th position on the Transglobal World Music Chart (TWMC) last year, just after its release. Bholoja is now set to add another feather to his hat as he is the first local musician to be announced as part of the line-up for the festival.
Bholoja was announced by Makoti Festival Organiser Thembinkosi Mthethwa during an interview with this publication, where he started by recapping the dates on which the festival is set to be hosted. “The event will be hosted on April 27 at Malkerns Country Club. Bholoja is a hardworking musician, who is talented, hence he is ideal for this show. This year’s event will be massive; I wouldn’t advise people to miss it.
Tickets
“The event will offer nothing, but the best out of entertainment just like we did last year and we would advise fans to start planning their outfits and get ready to buy tickets to the event soon,” Mthethwa said. Worth mentioning is the fact that Bholoja will share the stage with South African (SA) celebrated musicians Ntokozo Mbambo and ‘Paris’ hitmaker Mthandeni SK, who were the first musicians to be announced for this year’s edition of the festival.
Last year, the festival garnered massive attendance in terms of patrons and the line-up was solid as a rock. It was headlined by award-winning musician Sjava, who is a widely respected musician from South Africa (SA) and the brains behind the singles ‘Umbayimbayi’, ‘Sayona’, ‘Umama’, ‘Abangani’, ‘Ngempela’, ‘Isoka’ as well as ‘Impilo’ to name a few.
It was hosted at Malkerns Country Club on April 22 and some of the musicians that performed alongside Sjava include Gospel powerhouse Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Shwi, DJ Zoe, Floewe, Khwanny, Ingadla/Ummiso, Indigenous Spirit, Ngwana On It, Mzwa, Ezamaswazi, Chantel M, Maneto, Juliana De Sousa, Futhi Mhlongo, Zoe, Perddy Nkosi, Master P, Mekonko as well as DJ Cup.
