MBABANE – Fast-rising young model Wendy Baxter will be taking part in this year’s Miss Teen Universe pageant competition which will be hosted in South Africa (SA) on a date yet to be announced.

Baxter is a model housed under Top Models Eswatini (TME), which was founded by Mbalenhle Manana. This is the same modelling agency which groomed international model Snowee who has graced fashion shows in countries such as Seychelles and South Africa, to name a few.

Worth mentioning is that she was announced as the ‘Best Newcomer 2023’ for Top Models Eswatini and is currently nominated for ‘Best Newcomer Model’ at the Africa Heritage Fashion Week in Cameroon. Last year, she did 10 shows locally and internationally and went on to share the stage with models from South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe during last year’s Eswatini Biggest Braai.

The news about Baxter joining this year’s Miss Teen Africa was announced by Top Models Eswatini Director Manana during an exclusive interview with this publication. She shared that this competition will give Baxter the recognition she needs.

“This competition will benefit her in many ways. She is a young upcoming model who looks up to the likes of Snowee Nolwazi Simelane and other international mogul models who are doing well in the industry globally.
“She has big dreams to become one of the world’s most famous models. Putting her on the world stage pageant would mean that her name Wendy Baxter is known globally looking at how many followers and viewers for Miss Teen Eswatini and also flying the Eswatini flag high on the global stage,” Manana said.

Resources

She also highlighted that they wanted to join the competition last year but due to limited resources, they could not.
“This is a world stage pageant which we actually wanted to be part of last year. This year the host country is South Africa (SA) and last year it was Columbia. We didn’t send anyone because it was too far but this year we are taking advantage of SA being close,” Manana said.

She further appealed for sponsorship of the young model, as she will be part of this pageant competition. “I kindly request Eswatini cooperate companies to help us financially as this franchise is worth E20 000 to work. “I’d also request them to work with us as Wendy will be representing the whole country, all the weight of the country is on her shoulders now. She will represent us very well and put us on the map,” she said.
