MBABANE SWALLOWS CROWNING AT SOMHLOLO
MBABANE – Somhlolo National Stadium will witness Mbabane Swallows officially crowned the 2023/24 MTN Premier League champions.
Umkhonto KaShaka clinched their seventh league title, this past weekend, at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre after narrowly beating Ezulwini United 1-0. The Caleb Ngwenya-led side are currently leading the pack with 52 points, with a game to play. The second spot in the standings is occupied by Green Mamba, who were defending the Holy Grail of Eswatini football on 47 points.
According to the final MTN Premier League programme released by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Football Manager, Pat Vilakati, yesterday, Somhlolo National Stadium will play host to a double-header. The first game will be the Manzini Derby relegation six-pointer between Manzini Wanderers and Denver Sundowns. This game will start at 1pm. The second game at 3pm will be that of the uncrowned 2023/24 season champions, Swallows, up against third-placed Young Buffaloes, who are expected to be afforded a guard of honour.
Mayaluka Stadium will also host a double-header on the last day of the season; it will witness another relegation six-pointer between Moneni Pirates and Ezulwini United at 1pm. This match will ‘curtain-raise’ that of Madlenya and fourth-placed Nsingizini Hotspurs at 3pm. The other league games have been penned for the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium, the Nsukuwansuku Stadium in Mhlume and the Simunye Stadium. High-scoring Mbabane Highlanders will face Green Mamba in Nhlangano at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium, while Royal Leopard will welcome Rangers at Nsukuwansuku at 3pm. On the other hand, relegation-haunted Manzini Sea Birds will play Illovo at Simunye Stadium at 1pm.
