UNCLE WAFFLES PREVIEWS JOEY BADASS VERSE
MBABANE – Uncle Waffles is looking to feature American musician and actor Joey Badass on part two of her recently released banger ‘Wadibusa’.
This was revealed by the broadcasting and media production company Kreative Kornerr. According to a post made by Kreative Kornerr on Instagram this past weekend, Joey Badass has been already contacted about the possible feature. A text which included musician Pcee, Uncle Waffles and Joey Badass reflected that Joey is interested in meeting and finalising the feature. Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, known by his stage name Joey Badass, is an American rapper and actor. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, he formed the regional hip hop group Pro Era in 2011, with whom he released three mixtapes and formed the larger collective, Beast Coast the following year.
He signed with Cinematic Music Group as a solo act to release his debut mixtape ‘1999’ in 2012 and its follow-up ‘Summer Knights’ also from the same year, both of which yielded critical acclaim. His first two albums ‘B4.Da. $$’ and ‘All-Amerikkkan Badass’ both peaked at number five on Billboard 200 and saw continued critical praise, while his third album ‘2000’ released in 2022, peaked at number 22. He made his television acting debut in the USA Network series titled ‘Mr Robot’. A sample of Joey Badass possible verse for ‘Wadibusa’ was shared as a teaser on Uncle Waffles Instagram channel.
The song ’Wadibusa’ is an Amapiano single which was released by Uncle Waffles on April 19. The song features Royal Musiq, Ohp Sage, Pcee and DJY Biza. Worth mentioning is the fact that the video hit 1 million views in four days after being released. At the time of compiling this report, the video was sitting on 5 915 500 views. These numbers reflect that the video is growing popular as it is now headed for six million views. Her fans have given her thumbs up on the song, and they are already in love with the music video, as some left comments that they could not stop watching it and are in love with Waffles’ mind.
Some of the comments under the YouTube video praise the whole track for being a banger, unlike most Tiktok snippets. One user wrote, ‘No way she is still Uncle Waffles as this is on some Godmother level’, and another wrote, ‘Everything that she drops is a hit; we definitely cannot wait for your next banger, with lots of love from Haiti’. Also worth mentioning is the fact that Uncle Waffles will be headlining this year’s ‘Brooklyn Mirage’ show, which will be hosted in New York on August 18. The DJ revealed on an Instagram post that being the only second act from Africa and the first of many Amapiano acts to headline this venue is a dream for her, and she will be bringing it to life.
The Eswatini-born superstar urged her fans to sign up for the presale tickets which will go live next Wednesday and be prepared for a show as headline waffles have taken another step.
The talented Amapiano star had her first headline show in New York last September, and it was dubbed ‘We Love Waffles’ at the Great Brooklyn Hall, which was a huge success for the young lady as the show was sold out. She will also be performing live in the kingdom on May 26, courtesy of the upcoming Pop Sunday show, which will be hosted at Albert Millin.
