MBABANE – Local opera singer Thando Zwane said it was very interesting to be a part of this amazing competition and represent the country internationally.

President of the Eswatini National Arts and Culture Council, Hhasense Dlamini, congratulated Thando on his huge achievement: “The two singers have really done well in representing the country; Zwane’s work is exceptional and speaks for itself. I hope that as a council we can continue to open more doors for emaSwati. Zwane, you should definitely walk tall and be proud of what you have achieved, but always remember your routes; we are very proud of you,” said Dlamini when congratulating the singer.

The opera singer said it was not easy to get through the competition but was also very happy to have come this far in the competition. “I will not lie, it was quite a challenge making it to the top nine out of the 882 singers in the competition; I am the only African in the top nine. It was really exciting to be told I have made it through to the next stage. All I can say to my fellow emaSwati is that it is very possible to achieve your dreams, as long as you work hard and do not look down upon the fact that you are a liSwati, and they can join the competition and even do better than me,” said Zwane during an interview.
