MBABANE - ‘‘We are pleased to know that this is the country’s first medal at a World Championship sports event in a long time.

‘‘The fact that this drought has been ended by a 11-year-old, makes it even more outstanding. Ndoni, you have written your name not just into sporting history, but into the history of our great kingdom.’’These were the words of Prime Minister (PM) Russell Mmiso Dlamini during a press conference that was held at the Offices yesterday where together with the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs rewarded the young talent for her excellent achievement of a silver medal at the Dance World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic.

The PM presented Ndoniyamanzi Luhlanga with a  E75 000 replica cheque and he further presented a personal reward of E5 000 to her. “I wish to begin by thanking Ndoni’s family for fully supporting their daughter to pursue her passion and talent in dancing. The family structure is integral in the development of our children, who are the future of our country and from whom our future leaders will come. Without the family’s support, we would not be here today,’’ said Dlamini during the conference.

He also thanked Velile Dube, who has been coaching Ndoni from 2016 when she was only four years old and also appreciated the entire Talent ‘n’ Motion Academy team for their selfless work in nurturing the rising star. “Congratulations, Ndoni. I urge you to remain focused and dedicated to your studies as well as growing and perfecting your craft. I look forward to receiving you and your family again here at Cabinet Office for many more celebratory occasions,” concluded the PM. The Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima said sports in the country was growing strong and most of the excelling athletes were the youth.

“We are very happy for the work that Ndoni has done, as emaSwati we are slowly but surely approaching a point where we can live with sport, we also notice the thread of young children who come for their rewards after representing the country well in regional and international competitions, sports is really doing the most and if young people continue taking it seriously, they will be the best globally,” he said.

Dube, the rising stars Coach, also pleaded with government to support their academy as they have shown that they have what it takes to take the country to even greater heights. “We are very grateful for this opportunity, I have been dancing with Ndoni since she was four years old and now we have over 100 children at Talent n Motion in ballet contemporary and other dance forms, our children are always excelling in their different dance forms, thus I would like to ask government to assist us to get professionals who can come here and train young emaSwati as Ndoni has shown that we have something to give to the world,” Dube said. Ndoni also thanked the country for supporting her through her journey, ‘‘I would like to say thank you so much Eswatini for supporting me and being with me this whole time, and thank you to Dlomo for sponsoring me all this time and thank you prime minister for being here,” she said.
