OVER 5 AFRICAN NATIONS EXPECTED AT AFRICA FEST
MBABANE - The build-up to the African Carnival after party includes parades that will be joined by special guests from other African countries arriving today.This was mentioned by the African Carnival Eswatini Chairman, Emmanuel Ofori-Abrokwah. “This year’s carnival will be the biggest of all the others we have hosted before, as we have friends from other African countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa and Cameroon,” he said.The chairman also detailed some of the interesting activities that they will engage in during the carnival. “Today some of the guests will arrive in the country. We will have a parade on Friday, and we will be moving from Ezulwini to Manzini. On Saturday morning, we will also be at the International Trade Fair, where Their Majesties will be officially opening the trade fair. We will be displaying some of the traditional foods from the other countries and also their traditional dances with our stakeholder, the Arts and Culture Council.” Abrokwah said.
Collaboration
Stanley Dlamini, the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture Chief Executive Officer (CEO), confirmed the collaboration. “During the official opening of the trade fair, our culture troupe will also be there, where other nations will also be showcasing their talents,” Dlamini said.After the festivities of the day at Mavuso, they have also organised the Africa Fest after party, which will be held at Sibebe Resort. The after party will be headlined by South African musicians A-Reece, Sun-el musician, and Mas Musiq. The headlining acts will be supported by a number of local acts featuring the likes of Young Zesh, Trend Twins, Itsallblaq, Selby and Sgitha, to mention a few.
DJ Selby, a local Deep House musician, said that he was very excited about the show. “Since it is a daytime vibe, I have prepared a unique chilled set that will accommodate everybody, even if one is not a fan of Deep House, for they will be accommodated. I am so humbled and honoured to share the stage with grown-ups from the neighbouring country; it is a dream come true for me and for such, it really has a huge influence on my performance; a mark will be left,” he said.
