MONENI - The cold weather could not deter iF’s Lounge Spring Bash from hosting patrons alongside South African musicians.

iF’s Lounge Restaurant and Bar is a hangout spot situated at Moneni. On Saturday night, it hosted the likes of Nkosazana Daughter, Russell Zuma, Lulo Cafe and DJ Christos who was also part of last year’s edition. A number of patrons braved the brass monkey weather, and danced the night away as they were treated to vibrant performances showcased on the night. Local musicians were also a priority during the colourful event which celebrates and welcomes the spring season through fine vibes delivered in an outdoor setting. Some of the local musicians who delivered live performances include DJ Maphi, Zulu D, Lady Zee Purevibe and Male to name a few. Despite some few technical glitches which led to the delay of live performances from 7 pm up to 9pm, patrons waited patiently for live performances. Amapiano sensation Lady Zee is one of the DJs that brought energy at the venue with a captivating Amapiano set which lasted for almost an hour.

Her song selection was on point as she was able to keep a number of patrons on their toes. After setting the mood just after 9 pm, Zulu D took over and suprised patrons with an Amapiano set which was later fused with classic Hip Hop. Zulu D, born Samkelo, is popularly known for playing Gqom music, but on Saturday he played differently. While delivering his intriguing set, he was hyped by local talented MCs Nqaba, Jumbo and Bayanda. His set lasted for almost an hour and South African musician Russell Zuma was already inside the house waiting to deliver. As time flew seamlessly, Russell Zuma took the stage and had patrons running helter-skelter near the stage area, while some screamed their lungs out in disbelief. Zuma left no crumbs on stage as he performed most of his hit-songs such as ‘Ngise Mathandweni’ and ‘Angikaze’. After his performance which lasted for over thirty minutes, he shared his excitement for being in the kingdom for the second time in his career, citing it was an amazing experience.

Humbled

“It’s been a while since I have been here, I am always humbled by the love I receive from fans. It makes one feel at home, I also can’t forget to mention the love people are showing me while performing, it’s awesome,” he said. After Zuma’s performance, musician DJ Maphi made sure Hip Hop was also represented as he delivered a solid yet engaging Hip Hop mix. He opened his set with Elaine’s record breaking love song ‘You’re the one’. South African musician Nkosazana Daughter took the stage after 2am. However, according to the programme, she was expected to perform at 1:15am. Her performance received a positive reception from patrons as she was able to engage them with creative Amapiano dance moves such as ‘Sgora’ and ‘Zekethe’. She was a marvel to watch and she opened her performance with her song ‘Keneilwe’, a record she recorded with Wanitwa Mos and Master KG.
Deep House legends, Lulo Cafe and DJ Christos took the graveyard shift and rocked with patrons until 5am in the morning which marked the end of the show.
