MBABANE – Jamal Damane, a local 19-year-old dancer, walked away with E5 000 on Saturday during the Show Your Talent Eswatini competition, that took place at the Eswatini Theatre Club.

Damane, received a resounding applause after his performance, took to the stage and performed a very peculiar dance piece that merged lyrical contemporary dance and street dancing.
His 90 second performance captivated the judges, in such a way that local rapper Krtc, who was part of the judging panel, exclaimed that he had never seen anything like that before; emphasising how phenomenal the performance was. The dance judges, Velile Dube and Buyi Cele, were equally impressed. “I remember you from last year, but what I love is you took notes and came back so much stronger. Well done, that was out of this world,” Cele said.

Damane won a spot to be part of the team of artists that will represent Eswatini in New York, America next year at Talent America.“I competed last year and did not make it, but took what the judges told me, practiced hard and came back to win. I am so excited and cannot wait for the road ahead,” he said. The price money that the young man received was presented to him by Semza Ntombini of the Kwakitsi Foundation, Princess Temtsimba Dlamini, who sponsored the E5000. Other winners from Saturday who did not receive money incentives, but made the team of artists who will be going to New York, America in July 2025 include:

  • Nkosinathi Simelane - singer
  • Gina Sithole - model

  • Temashabalala Mabuza - model

These winners will all be joining 9 year old Makhai Bennett, who won at last year’s Show Your Talent Eswatini and went on to represent the country at this year’s Talent America virtual competition and won first place in the vocal pop category. Bennett won himself a full sponsorship to go to Talent America, in July 2025 for a call back, with Barry Kolker from the Carson Kolker Organisation, who was part of this year’s Talent America judging panel.
