MZWAKHE MYENI CONFERRED WITH DOCTORATE
MBABANE – Award-winning Gospel musician Mzwakhe Myeni has been conferred with a doctorate from South Africa’s Powerhouse Practicum Institute.
This happened this past weekend, as revealed by Myeni, citing it as a competitive decision that featured other top pastors from South Africa. “Since it was a graduation this past weekend in Durban, it is where other pastors raised my name out of 10 pastors who were set to be honoured with the doctorate. I was among the top 10. Looking at the impact I have had in the Gospel industry as well as in changing the lives of others, they said I deserved it.
They even said I usually come invited to churches where a majority of the people hold quality certificates such as degrees and doctorates; when I minister, they are able to listen, and their lives are changed for the better. They are saying I am more powerful than the doctors who have worked in universities. That is how I obtained the favour from God, and this is being said on my song titled ‘Grace Upon Grace’. A lot could have not been aware of my work, but God has now put it out there for everyone to see,” he said.
Honoured
He further revealed that he got the achievement due to the impact he had had on the community. “I have been honoured with a doctorate due to the impact and work that I have done in Eswatini as well as in South Africa. As a man of God, I preach the Gospel in many churches in South Africa. I also minister in song, where I change the lives of other people.
As a producer, I have produced for almost 70 per cent of Gospel musicians in South Africa and in Eswatini. I have had an impact on the lives of many people. Right now, there are people who lack humanity, but through my music and preaching, I have made a huge impact in the community,” Myeni said.
Myeni also shared that he is humbled by the achievement, as it is a testament that he has been working hard over the years. “I am still shocked and humbled by the achievement. I am so happy and grateful to God for giving me this. All these years I have been working hard and he has now rewarded me. I am not afraid to say I am now Dr Mzwakhe Myeni.
Some of the things that I do might not be known by emaSwati. When I go to other countries where they know the things I do, I get recognised for that. I am a member of a pastors’ association in South Africa. I am also taking theology classes online at the Powerhouse Institute in South Africa,” he said.
