MANZINI CHOIR TO HOST CAMPAIGN FOR NCE VOTES
MBABANE - The Manzini Choir, one of the oldest choirs in Eswatini, has received thrilling news as it has been selected for the National Choral Eisteddfod (NCE) finals.
The esteemed event is set to take place from December 13, 2024, at the Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa. Competing alongside the Manzini Choir are four other remarkable choirs from South Africa: The Matthews Singers from the Eastern Cape, The Great CUT Choir from the Free State, Da Capo Chorus from North West and Esikhawini Choristers from KwaZulu-Natal. Out of these five choirs, only one will advance to the finals based on public votes, making this a crucial moment for the Manzini Choir and its supporters.
Opportunity
Manzini Choir Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sabelo Maziya said that in light of the exciting opportunity, the choir is calling upon all emaSwati to vote for them. “This is quite an impressive achievement for the choir, therefore, we plead with emaSwati both within the country and abroad, as well as choral music enthusiasts, to rally behind us and cast their votes,” he said. Voting is very simple, as supporters can send an SMS with the words ‘Manzini Choir’ to +276 6364 4051 if they are in Eswatini or anywhere outside South Africa or to 49711, if they are in South Africa.
The voting window will close on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 and the results will be announced the following day. Maziya also said they recognise that busy schedules may hinder participation, hence the choir will also be accepting donations to their Mobile Money account at 78887227, which will enable easier support from those who may not have the time to vote.
Campaign
The PRO invited supporters to attend their sensitisation campaign tomorrow. “To further engage the community and raise awareness for the campaign, the Manzini Choir is organising a sensitisation event on Saturday, tomorrow, in both Manzini and Matsapha. “This initiative aims to connect with local supporters to share their passion for music and emphasise the importance of every vote in securing a place in the finals,” Maziya said. The selection to compete in the NCE is a significant milestone for the Manzini Choir, representing not only a chance to showcase their talent on a grand stage, but also an opportunity to foster unity and pride within the Kingdom of Eswatini.
