MBABANE – In a thrilling development for film enthusiasts in the kingdom, yet another South African actor, Hamilton Dhlamini, has been spotted filming in Manzini, specifically at Pro Learning.

This news arrives shortly after the surprise appearance of renowned South African actor Muzi Mthabela at the Manzini Bus Rank last week. Mthabela, well-known for his compelling role as ‘Duma’ in the beloved television series ‘Isibaya’, was seen engaging with fans while filming in various locations within the bustling city. His presence delighted onlookers and local TikTok users, who quickly took to social media to share their encounters with the charismatic star.

The videos circulating on these platforms have captured Mthabela interacting warmly with fans and participating in local activities, generating buzz and speculation about the purpose of his visit to Eswatini. There appears to be a collaboration in the works as he was seen alongside Nhlanhla Shelembe from Shelembe Aphiwe Productions, a notable figure in the South African film industry.

Dhlamini, who has also been spotted in Manzini, is an accomplished South African actor, playwright and filmmaker. He is best recognised for his roles in films and television series such as ‘Isithembiso’, ‘Faith like Potatoes’, and ‘The King’s Messenger’.  When approached for details, the production team accompanying the actors stated that more information will be revealed in a press briefing scheduled for early December.

In June 2023, Shelembe’s production company made waves in the industry, when it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Eswatini National Film and TV Association. This partnership marks a significant milestone for the local entertainment scene, paving the way for potential collaborations and initiatives within the industry.  While specifics regarding the current activities of Hamilton Dhlamini and Muzi Mthabela in Eswatini remain confidential, Shelembe has confirmed the pair’s presence in the country, although he refrained from sharing further details at this stage.

He did indicate that thrilling announcements are imminent, promising to shed light on this intriguing project linked to the South African film industry. The excitement generated by these visits adds to the growing interest in Eswatini’s film industry, signalling not just increased collaboration with South African talents, but also the potential for local talents to take centre stage in forthcoming projects.
