ZAMO BAGS BEST SISWATI ARTIST AWARD
MBABANE – In a remarkable display of talent and dedication, local songbird Zamo Dlamini, has once again made headlines by securing an award.
Dlamini won the prestigious title of Best SiSwati Artist at the 19th annual South African Traditional Music Achievements Awards, held this past weekend. The event which was a celebration of the rich tapestry of South African music, recognised the musician for her exceptional contributions to the SiSwati genre.The musician, who has been captivating audiences with her soulful melodies, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her fans through her social media platforms. “I am very grateful to the award organisers and to every single person that voted for this award. I do not take this support for granted, especially to the Mpumalanga department office. May God bless you all abundantly,” read her Instagram post.
In an exclusive interview with the songbird she recalled how she was nominated for this award in 2011 but lost it to musician Bholoja. ‘‘Getting a second chance made me happy, I am humbled, bringing it home is really heartwarming and I am honestly honoured,” she said. Dlamini went on to state that the award is not just about her but the award belongs to all of them because they are all pushing the eswatini culture and sharing the richness of the culture with the world.
