DANCE IGNITION’S 6TH EDITION A SPECTACLE OF TALENT
MBABANE -The 6th edition of the ‘Dance Ignition’ was yet another remarkable event as attendees were left in awe from the moves displayed by the young performers.
Held at the Mbabane Theatre Club on Saturday, the event showcased the dedication and enthusiasm of the next generation of dancers. The Director of Talent and Motion Academy, Velile Dube expressed her unwavering commitment to empowering young people through dance and fostering a vibrant arts community in Eswatini. “Since 2016, we have been training children all across Eswatini. We started with only four kids, but now we have over 100,” Dube said.
This year’s event served as a culmination of the hard work put in by local dancers throughout the year. Dube emphasised the importance of dance as a powerful form of expression and cultural exchange, reflecting on the impressive growth of the academy. “This particular edition is a testament to our dedication to promoting dance,” she added. Tinyiko Chauke a performer from the National School of Arts shared her excitement about being on stage in Eswatini. “It has been an amazing experience. I have been at the school for two years and every time we perform, it is a blast. This is actually my first time in Eswatini and the audience was fantastic. The screams were a validation of how much they enjoyed our moves,” she said.
Chauke also expressed her delight in witnessing the performances of the younger dancers. “I got to peek through the curtains during some of the little ones’ performances and they were just so adorable,” she added with a smile.Local young performer Kitso Makgeledisa shared her initial nerves before taking the stage but highlighted how dancing helped calm her down. “I was really nervous at first, especially when I saw all those people in the audience. I was scared of performing for them, but I just danced it all away and I did not mind the audience,” she said.
Experience
Her experience resonated with many young performers proving that despite their nerves the joy of dancing ultimately prevailed. The event also drew the support of proud parents like Phindile Lukhele, who attended to watch her child perform. “Talent and Motion are doing an exceptional job with the kids. Watching them master the art at such a tender age means they are destined for greatness,” she said.Lukhele expressed gratitude to the choreographer for her dedication to the children. “Every moment here was just too cute. Watching my four-year-old execute those moves really touched me. If they continue like this, they are surely going to take the world by storm,” Lukhele said.
Another parent, Muzi Dlamini echoed similar sentiments stating that he has witnessed significant growth in his daughter who has been with the school for two years. “She is definitely growing and I am very proud of her. This shows that the kids love what they are doing. Performing for so many people requires strength so big-ups to them,” he said. The audience was treated to a surprise performance by Welcome Makova, a choreographer who joined the young girls on stage for a captivating dance titled ‘God is Good’.
This Hip-Hop-infused routine was well-received adding an extra layer of excitement to an already vibrant event.
