MBABANE - In an exciting showcase of talent and ambition, four esteemed choirs from Eswatini represented the nation this past weekend at the Tiro Mpane Chorals finale.

The choirs that proudly represented Eswatini included the Emmanuel Methodist Choir, the Mbabane Methodist Choir, His Majesty’s Correctional Services Choir and the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Choir. These ensembles have consistently demonstrated the exceptional talent and passion of the emaSwati people. The choirs truly raised the nation’s flag high with the REPS Choir securing second place in the large category, while His Majesty’s Correctional Services Choir achieved second place in the Champs category. Both choirs walked away with a prize of E80 000 each, a testament to their hard work and dedication.

Last week, the Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, encouraged the choirs not to disappoint and to return home with trophies. The choirs certainly delivered on this promise bringing pride to their country. In response to their success, the President of the Eswatini National Choral Music Association, Sihle Gumbi, expressed his enthusiasm. “This is truly amazing for our choirs, I am very excited about this,” he said. His remarks highlighted the significance of this achievement for the Choral community in Eswatini. The Tiro Mpane Chorals finale represented not just a competition but also a platform for these talented ensembles to showcase their hard work and passion on a grand stage. With the backing of government and the enthusiasm of the public the choirs are poised to make a significant impact in the cultural landscape of Eswatini.

Support

The journey to the finals has been marked by rigorous rehearsals, community support and an unwavering spirit among the singers. Each choir brings its unique blend of harmonies and styles, promising an unforgettable experience for both performers and audiences alike. This event not only celebrated the choirs’ accomplishments, but also reinforced the importance of music in fostering unity and cultural pride within the emaSwati community. As the sounds of joyous celebration echoed across Pretoria, the choirs of Eswatini reminded everyone that through music, they can transcend boundaries and uplift the spirit of their nation.
